Student Resources

Once enrolled, NVA students have access to a variety of free resources to help them meet their academic goals. Together, students, parents, and teachers develop an extensive personalized plan for each individual student based upon student-specific resources that are used in the learning center and at home.



Electives for the 2013-2014 school year include:

  • Drawing & Painting - This class will cover the fundamentals of drawing and the essentials of color theory.
  • Creative Writing - A focus on poetry and short stories with a goal of having student's completed work published.
  • Criminology - Covering the history of criminology, goals and justification of criminal punishment as well as individual crime theory and introduction to criminal law.
  • Computer Applications - This class will allow students to learn basic programs such as Microsoft Office. Innovative use of technology will be used to integrate multi-media work.
  • Beginning & Advanced Guitar - These classes will be offered to students who are looking to learn guitar or improve their musical talents.

NVA has awarded high school diplomas to hundreds of students and has been a stepping stone of success for many more. Students who have graduated from NVA were each looking for a unique place where social struggles do not impede their ability to reach their goals.
